went to my first lakers game last night. took dad, too. the raptors were in the house, and vince carter pulled out a few nice dunks before getting hurt. shaq's on the dl for the lakers, and they're playing poorly without him. they managed to lose 86-89, despite the raptors losing their only weapon for the entire fourth quarter.
our seats were pretty good, and dad enjoyed the game. i've got a cold, so i didn't enjoy myself as much as i would have liked to have. but i did see heather locklear!

our major product release went off without a hitch on monday, and we even got some press, which was kinda cool. launch is now yahoo, and yahoo music is now launch. we took the best of the two sites and smooshed 'em together to make one great music site.
getting to this release took a lot of hard work, and the resulting site is pretty darned good, if i do say so myself. and we even got done a few days early! (which is practically unheard of in software or web development)
but no rest for the wicked: this week is a mad scramble to plot our roadmap plans for 2002.

had a nice relaxing weekend, despite having to go out twice amongst the ravenous holiday shoppers.
friday night i was planning on staying home and playing old-school video games. but at 7:45 i got a call from a friend from work, offering up a free ticket to see andrea bocelli at staples. i've never been to a fancy-schmancy operatic-type concerto before, and it sounded like a cool thing to check out. turns out that we had really great seats. the orchestra was awesome. and, oh, that bocelli guy sure can belt it out. about half way through the show, i thought "ya know, this guy sure looks like that other guy who sang during the victoria's secret fashion show." (guess that just goes to show that there's more than one way to get cultured!) i really enjoyed the show, but i don't think i'll start buying $400 seats to concertos anytime soon.
on saturday night i went out to dinner with some friends. we tried out "the taj" (previously "gaylord". what a bizarre name for an indian food joint, huh?). good grub. afterwards, we went to st. nicks, a mellow divey bar with a great jukebox. nothing remarkable happened, but we had a minor star sighting: kevin nealon. he was just hanging out with some friends. people in the bar pretty much left him alone, too, which i though was cool. if it'd been skybar or some other "scene" place, i'm sure people would have been pestering him. i wonder how tired he is of people reciting lines from his weekend update or mr. subliminal skits on snl?
